The Italian Transport Union plans to hold a 24 - hour strike across the country on Friday, March 8, to commemorate International Women's Day.

Aircraft and marine workers are scheduled to stop working between 00: 00 and 23: 59 local time.

 The strike started at 21: 00 on Thursday, March 7 and ended at 21: 00 on March 8.  Other local and regional train operators are expected to start work stoppage at different times.

 Taxi drivers plan to take part in the strike from 8 to 22.

 Severe traffic disruption is expected to occur across Italy on March 7 and 8.
